The owner of Royal Bengal Restaurant, Gita Mazumdar, hails from West Bengal, India.
When she came to the Boston area 20 years ago, she brought with her all the tastes of home.
She opened her first restaurant in Cambridge in 2000 and gained widespread popularity for her unique menu items such as Kash Mangsho (goat curry), Moshar Ghanto (spiced banana blossom) and Mulligatawny Soup.
She is proud to be the only Indian restaurant in the northeast to feature authentic Bengali cuisine.
After over a decade of success she moved into a smaller space closer to her home in Somerville.
